Simone Thomas

Simone Thomas

Founder and Trustee

Simone currently works as a donor finance manager for a charity.

Previously, she worked as a grants accountant for an education charity and an auditor within the not for profit sector.

She has a strong interest in international development, having volunteered within Guatemala and Kenya previously. She taught Mathematics within Kibera in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and has been returning ever since to provide support to some of the children there and ensure their right to education is met. Some of these children are sponsored today as part of Kickstart Kibera.

Philip Hearn

Trustee

Philip is experienced at both executing strategic plans and helping organisations improve their processes, marketing and risk management.

As somebody who has both started his own company and worked in internal audit at major international companies, he is able to bring a wealth of insight to help Kickstart Kibera achieve its objectives. Philip is a Chartered Accountant as well as having professional qualifications in project management and IT.

Philip is delighted to be part of Kickstart Kibera as he passionately believes that the skills he has can help the charity achieve life changing outcomes for the children it helps.

Irini Pantelidou

Irini Pantelidou

Trustee

Irini has experience working in the non-profit sector in education, climate change and health. This includes the Varkey Foundation, CDP and the Wellcome Trust. She completed an MSc in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies at LSE.

Irini is excited to be part of Kickstart Kibera and to make a difference on a local level to children’s lives through education.

Our IT Guy

Vojtěch is a software engineer with substantial experience in web development. Having built web applications for over a decade he is proud to be able to participate on the Kickstart Kibera project as a technical resource.
